16 Gymnastic Exercises for Your Horse
LESLIE WEBB with the Editors of Practical Horseman
From the popular series originally published in Practical Horseman, Leslie Webb’s progressive program of easy-to-understand gymnastic exercises allows riders and their horses to focus on correctly developing one skill at a time. Appropriate for both green youngsters and advanced competitors, and beneficial to every horse sport—trail riding, jumping, Western pleasure, or dressage—these exercises will: sensitize your horse to subtle cues; enhance communication and response; regulate rhythm, tempo, and length of stride; improve strength, suppleness, and balance; put your horse on the aids; and detect and correct underlying problems.
Award-winning rider LESLIE WEBB began riding hunters and jumpers as a teenager, changing disciplines and beginning her study of dressage in 1978. Webb spent twelve years under the tutelage of Erich Bubbel, three-time Austrian Olympic coach, developing her training systems for horse and rider, and her winning skills in the arena. She now specializes in teaching junior and young riders, conducting clinics throughout the United States and running a training facility in Bakersfield, California.
