The Little Red Riding Book

Jonathan Boudin with illustrations by Marti Adrian

Jenny and Jason are best friends and in the fourth grade—and they have been waiting for the day they could take their first riding lessons on Percy and Amaretta, their favorite horses at the local riding stable. Jenny and Jason are guided through the world of horses, learning about brushes, saddles, bridles, and the barn rules at Red Barn Farms. They learn that horses are both gentle and powerful—and truly have minds their own! They also discover that sitting on the back of a horse is a feeling like no other, and the connection between horse and rider is magical.

With loads of practical information woven into this charming story, and beautiful illustrations, The Little Red Riding Book is both an entertaining read and a learning experience for children, ages six to 12 years.

Horses are in JONATHAN BOUDIN’s blood and have been for most of his life. He has trained and competed in dressage, driven draft horses, ridden on trails, and competed on the Eastern Oregon University Polo Team. Boudin helped found the Kiara Care Society, an organization that allows those who have been touched by cancer to spend time with horses. The Little Red Riding Book is his first book, and features his own horses: a Swedish Warmblood named Percy and a Thoroughbred/Andalusian named Amaretta.
