Featured Author Shawna Karrasch

Shawna Karrasch spent ten years training and performing with killer whales, dolphins, and other marine mammals as the director of training programs at Sea World in California. In 1992, she attended her first horse show, and she became fascinated with the idea of applying reward-reinforcement training to horses. Since then, she co-founded On Target™ Training, a revolutionary method of combining the basics of "clicker training"-widely used on marine mammals and dogs-with another reward-reinforcement program known as "target training." This has developed into a highly successful system of training horses used by professionals and Olympic-caliber equestrians and has been offered as an accredited equine studies course at Cazenovia College in New York.
