Tena
Bastian and her husband Michael, known as "Bear," own and operate
a small ranch in Ohio where they stand and show three-time Palomino Horse
Breeders Association World qualifier, This Beaus Eligible. Beau
is a 94 percent Foundation Quarter Horse Palomino stallion and has placed
among the top five stallions in the world. They base their breeding program,
limited to artificial insemination and shipped semen, on the teachings
of Professor Walter Threlfall, DVM, MS, PhD, of Ohio State University
and Associate Professor Carla Carleton, DVM, MS, of Michigan State University.
Tena has served on the board of directors of the Ohio Foundation Quarter
Horse Association, and is currently a director of the Midwest Foundation
Quarter Horse Association. She is the author of The Horses We've Known and two novels.
