About the Author
Islay Auty holds a professional career as an equestrian sports coach that spans three decades. Having gained her BHS Instructor's certificate in the early 1970s, became a chief examiner for the BHS and also successfully produced and competes horses in show jumping, eventing and, more recently, in dressage to advanced level.
On achieving the BHS Fellowship and an honors degree in education in the early 1990s, Islay became a freelance coach who is now in much demand, both at home and abroad, for her skills in training other coaches along with her inspirational work with many individual dressage and event riders.
She is passionate about the development of good horsemanship in young people and has since become involved in the British Young Riders Dressage Scheme (BYRDS) and a chef d'équipe to the British Dressage Under-21 teams.
